Post show comments from the prez:

Wow, what a great show we had over the weekend of the 17th and 18th. Great participation and the best thing, almost every class was a point earner. That’s how I measure success, along with the fact that everyone had a good time. We were treated to some good food provided by Kristin Hunt and family; very helpful instruction by our judge, Cal Gomes, and his ring steward Dodie Neves (thank you VERY MUCH!); and the weather at Honokaa was a blessing, as was all the help I got from Beverly,Laura, Gini, and thanks to Lani for the dragging of the arena for our participation. I know there were others, and we even had some people come up out of the blue and offer to help us! This was great. We did have a couple hold your breath moments, but everyone came out okay. Sure keeps you on your toes! BIG THANK YOU to YOU, the participants. I hope you had fun with your horses. Thanks again to all. The results are on the website for all to see. Thanks to Bill for putting them up on the website for us. I know they were up before the results were done for AQHA, that’s another story. Soo many forms, Soo many copies. But it’s in the mail!

It was great to have the Saturday classes fill up, and the cutters paid for the cattle so we actually did okay with the cow classes, and had good participation in the new Boxing classes. As the HICHA did a practice play day several weeks ago that had great turnout, we are going to take our Arena day planned for April 7th at Honokaa, and do a practice day, with the mechanical cow, if Lani will help us again, and we will order cattle for practice cutting, and then do boxing. Charles has said he will help with some pointers on the boxing for us to help promote this event, and it will be great to have some help for our youth and amateurs! We will keep the charges low and limit the number to available cattle to make the practice better for all riders and the cattle. Then we will run the boxing and charge a cattle fee for that also. Our goal is to break even, but if we make a couple dollars, the club can use it. HQHA has committed to helping HICHA in providing an annual scholarship ( $ amount yet to be determined)for a graduating high school senior (one per year) and this would be a good fundraiser event. Again the date is SATURDAY  APRIL  7th. Start at 9 am with sign up and waiver signing! This event is open to members of HQHA and HICHA. As with all our arena days, come bring your horses and get in the arena and have some fun, learn something new, make new friends, and just get out there!

Our Next AQHA/HQHA show is the 21st of April, and the entry will go out this week. You can email me your entries, fax your entries or even mail them, but please get them in on time. Cattle need to be ordered by Monday so we have enough. I will always take post entries, but I need to have the information on the horses and up to date card information, etc, and I need the computer to verify all information unless you bring me a copy of the horse’s papers and copy of your card, which I really need to have on file anyway. Okay, thanks. Watch your email for the entry blank coming soon. Mahalo and enjoy the ride.
