The youth club has been busy this summer. On June 23 we were invited to tour the new equine clinic at Veterinary Associates. Dr. Wood showed us around and explained how and why everything was set up the way it was. We got to feed an orphan foal, look at an ultra sound of tiny fetus in a mare, and learn what should be in your barn first aid kit. We finished with a game where teams got to display their “artistic talents” with play doo! It was lots of fun. We finished up with lunch and a short meeting. A big Mahalo to Dr Wood and the staff of Vet Associates!
On July 4th we had a fund raiser at the Parker Ranch rodeo. The day started with typical Waimea weather…wind and misty rain but the weather improved as the day progressed.
Thank you to all who helped to make this day a success: Dahana Ranch, Kiyo,Ikena and Dee for bringing and handling the horses for the “Horse Rides”, Volcano Island Poppers for the Kettle Corn, Jodi Sylva and Bailie Simeona and the Sugar Shack for the cotton candy, and “Roses By Pearl”-The Ultimate hair Tie.
Because of the generous donations by these people, we were able to keep the expenses down and our profits up! Thanks to Audrey, Aaron , Gini , Lindsey , Fronda, Beverly Linda, Janine, Kristin, Alexis, Aileana, Hannah, Jessica, Roberta, Brendon, Kaleo, Ikaika and all who showed up to help…I am sure that I am forgetting someone and I apologize but a big MAHALO to all!
Ikena Nakoa is going to compete at the AQHYA World Show in Oklahoma City in August. We wish her the best of luck and we are looking forward to hearing about her experience there.
